 A collaboration system in business is an IT based set of tools that supports the work of teams by facilitating the sharing and flow of information. Collaboration solves specific business tasks such as telecommuting, online meetings, deploying applications and remote project and sales management.
collaboration systems meet unique business challenges that include complex interaction between people who may be in different locations and desire to work across function and discipline areas, require flexibility in work process and the ability to involve others quickly and easily, and call for creating and sharing information rapidly and effortlessly.

Fourteen the E business

E Commerce is the buying and selling of goods and service over the Internet. E Commerce refers only to online transaction E Business, derived from the term e commerce, is the conducting of business on the internet , not only buying and selling, but also serving customers and collaborating with business partners.
E Business model is an approach to conducting electronic business on the Internet E Business transaction take place between two major entities which is business and consumers.
two types of business relationships that is business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C).

B2B
applies to businesses buying from and selling to each other over the internet. Emarketplace are interactive business communities providing a central market space where multiple buyers and sellers can engage in ebusiness activities.
 B2C
 applies to any business that sells its products or services to consumers over the internet.

protocols are the standards that specify the format as data as well as the rules to be followed during transmission.

Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) : the protocol engineering and development arm of the internet.

Internet Architecture Board (IAB) and Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG).

ERP

ERP software is a family software modules that support business activities in vital back processors. ERP is viewed as a necessary indicators for the efficiency, ability and responsive to customer and supplier that an business enterprise needs to succeed in the world of E-commerce.
 Business value of ERP are such as:
ERP creates a framework for integrating and improving back office system that result in major improvement in customer services, production, and distribution efficiency.
nest, ERP provides vital cross functional information quickly on business performance to managers to significantly improve their ability to make better business decision across the enterprise.
The growth of ERP is flexible , modular and open,comprehensive and beyond the company.

wow. of course, anything in this world have no exception to have a bad side. same goes to us as a human being. in the text book, shows a caption of a website that titled "do not buy Dodge", and the caption besides it is "The Power of You".
so in my understanding is, we have the authority and rights to express our thought on websites, in the internet especially. 
of course we have the right to express our thought and feeling just to share it with people around the world.
we could leave a comment, or experiences  in particular something. websites really demonstrating the power of an individual.

Supply chain management. already mention in the previous post before. the factors that driving the supply chain management is visibility , customer behavior, competition and speed.
 visibility is in the terms of the ability to view all areas up and down the supply chain that help them integrate upstream and downstream, with both customer and suppliers. the bullwhip effect occurs when distorted product demand information passes from one entity to the next throughout the supply chain.
 the customer behavior, customer nowadays becoming more demanding, they know exactly what they want and they know when and how they want it.
competition is in the terms of the ability on compete and the strategy on how to compete with other competitors in the industry. 
while speed which the competition should focus on. new forms of serves, telecommunications, wireless applications and software are enabling companies to perform activities that were once never thought possible.
supply chain management success factor are pleasing customer, reduced inventory and human resource requirements to a competitive level, and the essential flow of strategic planning.

making decision

why do in IT we need to make a decision. in our life ,we do making decision. it happens almost everyday, to small decision until large decision we made that could have been impact our life.

reasons for growth decision making in information system is people need to analyze large amount of information, improvement in technology itself resulted in a dramatic increase in the alternative and dimensions people need to consider before making an decision.
 people must make decision quickly, must apply sophisticated analysis techniques and people must protect the corporate assets of organization information also are some of the reasons for growth decision making in information system.

a right decision making is very important as it could have been a huge impact to our life, also in the organization itself.

•Extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)  is a process that extracts information from internal and external databases, transforms the information using a common set of enterprise definitions, and loads the information into a data warehouse

•Data mart – contains a subset of data warehouse information.

information also have cleaning and scrubbing, which is the process of eliminating and dispose all the unwanted information.it also involves the process of correcting the mistakes in the information.

same goes to our house, we also do the regularly cleaning to make sure our house is clean and tidy, so same case happen in data warehouse.

Self mumbling

watched a commercial on tv showing that lil kids have an aim to improve his family life condition, stated that he wants to buy a bigger house in order for his parents and siblings to be more comfortable. Admit it, we do have this aim, i do have this aim. well I've been thinking about future this lately. I want a good job, i want my own car, my own house, i want to send my parents to perform haji, i want to get married with the one i love, i want a happy family, there is so much that i want, but there is also so much wonders on my mind, it's insurance course i'm taking, should i continue with this course in degree ? can i be in insurance industry ? do i have the patience and ability to be in industry? can i be happy ? am i fat ? am i being selfish with other people ? am i a bad person, i feel so. am i really look so fierce ? why do we didn't talk anymore dear cousins ? now you're leaving Malaysia to further your study in UK, i wish you all the best. how would it be when i am married ? where do i live ? call me over thinking, but this is what i wonders, do blame my mind. and mostly i wonder is about that particular someone, where have you been ? how are you ? how do you do? are you okay ? i know you're not. can i finished all these crazzy so called assignment in time ? can i carter to answer all the tests ? is there enough time for me to study ? there is still two assignment that i haven't even start yet, damn! am i able to get the ANC ? There is still so much question marks but lets it just be with me..Oh please, this is too much. what to do next, i'll just live in the moment, lets find the answer along the way, and lets wonders be wonders for the moment.

Safe and sound

where do we put our things ? in a place that we sure the safety and ease us to find of course. Same goes to information.In an organization, they would stored the information,called databases. the database maintains information about various types of object (inventory), events (transactions), people (employee), and places (warehouse). databases models include hierarchical database model, network database model, and relational database model. i think that the first thing must have to stored the information is entity, so what is entity ? paranormal entity ? nahh.. entity, in the meaning of IT ( i guess so), is a person, thing, transaction, or event about which the information is stored. the entity need to be safe from any harm in order to protect the information.

Whatsoever whatever

Lets make it fast. this is basically what i saw on chapter 6. it's about the quality of information. yes information do have quality, of course. we as customer definitely want to be provide with a quality information. in an organization neither not, information is everywhere, walking on the side walk, and saw an advertisement, that is information, entering the parking lot, saw the sign "level G", that is information, in an organization, when a meeting is conducted, the manager mumbling a lot, that is information.  In an organization, the information have levels, which is information levels, information formats and information granularities.so how is it to be consider as a quality information ? a quality information, in my though (without referring to the slide) , that would be no error, no fraud, no lack. The characteristic of high quality information is accuracy, completeness, consistency, uniqueness and timeliness.The value of information is tend to be low when online customer intentionally fill up an inaccurate information to protect their privacy, honestly, i've done that before. of course we afraid to be hack! Anything would possibly happen in these kind of advance age.A high quality information do gives us benefits such as would significantly improve the chances of making decision and will lead to impact the organization's bottom line.

The more i saw

After we go through what medium that can measure the success of strategic initiative, let see on what organizational structures that support strategic initiatives. So this include the  chief information officer (CIO), chief technology officer (CTO), Chief security officer (CSO), chief privacy officer (CPO), and chief knowledge officer (CKO). These kind of chief have their own roles and responsibilities. These position, in my understanding, is same as the CEO as usually we heard in an organization, but for CIO,CTO,CSO, CPO,CKO, they are more in IT scope. In IT we do have ethics, of course. ethics is the principles and standards that guide our behavior toward other people. Ethics is practice in everywhere right, such as a must in us as a human, so do in IT. And, here we go, the unexpected definition that i found out on IT is, Privacy. yes, i am suprise that in the slides of chapter 5,i found that definition of privacy, thought that maybe i could found it on HR or other subject that make sense in my mind, but now,i see.. privacy do relate in IT. Privacy on what ? Privacy on our password, our account so that people can't hack us. We do need a privacy do we, nor in life or in the cyber.

On my last post i have wrote about the elements of  strategic initiative. So today, this moment, lemme story a little about how to measure the success of strategic initiative. So how to measure the technology's success ? So that's why in IT they have the key performance indicator. So these thing is the thing that will measure the

 efficiency and effectiveness of the strategic initiative. As we know or even don't know, efficient is do the right things while effectiveness is doing things right. With those element it had slightly effect on how success the strategic initiative and thus lead to the success of business. Slightly same with our life, in order to success, we had the medium to lead us to success, what is it ? I think most important is effort, next will be pray, whether from ourselves, from parents, from friends, lecturers, teachers or others it it all counted. Not forgetting support.

To achieve the worth.

what is needed to achieve what we want  ? of course we need goals, we need something as a channel to bring us to the top of the goals. So in IT, the strategic initiative that consist of Supply Chain Management (SCM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is the medium to achieve competitive advantages and business inefficiency. I refuse to give such definition to each of the strategic initiatives as this is not my purpose to do so. So what to comment about those things ? technology i mean, my bad. It is a very good method as it can help an organization to operates more efficient and more effective. So one thing that come onto my mind, what if there is no electricity ? i mean if the electricity system broke down? hmm.. I think there will be and interruption in the business process, and i think that would be leave to the company itself on how to handle it. okay, that's enough..the more i write the more ridiculous i think. for the moment, this is it.

Something interesting on a talk.

I attended a business talk yesterday, which is likely had attracted me, i i found it interesting indeed. Why ? not because of the handsome spoke person , seriously! (well, indeed one of the reason of course, but it's not the main,hehe). the spoke person was Encik Putra Ariffin, a successfull business man, and a future millionaire ,well that's what he wrote on his business card. He is the founder of the Boonga Art Shoes which is already well know nowadays. Now, what have attracted me is that, he asked the audience to wrote 10 things to achieve in life before you die, no matter how ridiculous it sound,and mine were ;
1. to have a good job
2. to have my own car
3. to have my own house
4. to bring my parents to perform haji
5. to go on overseas vacation with my family (destination, Venice, Italy of course!)
6. to make performance on stage (singing)
7. to learn how to play guitar (already achieved)
8. to write a book

10.


not enough 10. haha, basically that is what i want to do and to achieved in my life, and if there is more, i'll fill in the blank and add up some more.
so, there is a ridiculous things up there right? hahaha, but that's what i wanna do,and i'll be happy and satisfied if i have achieve those things one day, among those ten, only one have been achieved, which is, to earn how to play guitar. Yes, thanks to a friend who teach me the basic, and the rest i shall learn by myself and ask for a guide then.
so,talking back about the spoke person, he did mention a clause, a quote, a sentences which is;
"don't do things that you don't like, think for the future"
okay, that sentence really had me, that sentence do lingers in my head. why ?
because i don't think i belong in this business scope, business course, more specific in insurance course.
Because i love Art. i love art, i love art, i love art. i love to sketch, i love to draw, i love poems, i love songs, i love lyrics, i love music, i love quotes, i love photography. and i do those things, i do draw and sketch, i have two sketch book at the moment,but the drawings is not really nice compared to others who is more expert,and it's for my personal only. i do wrote a song lyric,(but it's also for personal only, and only wrote one song lyric so far,haha). For me, i think art is a medium on how you express and interpret your feeling, you emotion, your idea on something whether on a paper, on a photo, on a quotes, in a song or in a poem. It's how you express yourself. BUT, here am i, in a business course, insurance specifically, so how is my future will be ? that will be a BIG QUESTION MARK. I don't know what will be in the future, seriously. But what lingers in my mind, imagine 10 years in the future, working in a insurance industry, and  i don't enjoy my job, my career, SO HOW ? i guess the only way is i must to try to enjoy this course. i just follow the flow at the moment. ;)

Hello boys and girls, yeah, we meet again.So, let's talk about competitive advantage, well, as you can see the title itself have a question mark, let's find out what competitive advantage really is, here we go.
What is competitive advantage ?
a competitive advantage is when a product or service that an organization's customer place a greater value on than similar offerings from a competitor.
then what is first mover advantage ?
first mover advantage occurs when an organization can significantly impact its market share by being first to market with a competitive advantage.

Let's look at the five forces model first, so what is those five forces model ?

The five forces model is ;

the second tools to analyze competitive advantage is The Three Generic strategies that is 

• broad cost leadership
• broad differentiation
• focused strategy

As you can see on the figure above.

then. the third  common tools to analyzed competitive advantage is value chain.

 A business process is a standardized set of activities that accomplish a specific task such as processing a customer"s order.

 Value Chain approach views and organization as a series of processes,each of which adds value to the product or service for each customer.  

 So basically, these are a little bit something about competitive advantage  and the common tools that practices by an organization to analyzed competitive advantage.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY,or we call it IT.

Me, myself as a business student, in the subject MGT300, study on how IT fits into business strategies and organizational activities,there is a tight and close correlation between business and technology,which its provide an overview of how organizations operate in competitive environments and must continually define and redefine their business strategies to create competitive advantages, doing so allows organizations to not only survive, but also thrive. Anyone who understand and can access and analyze the any different enterprisewide information systems dramatically improve their decision making and problem solving abilities.

Do IT impact on business operations ?

Yes, business functions receiving the greatest benefit from IT.

So what is exactly Information Technology is ?

Information Technology is a field concerned with the use of technology in managing and processing information.The IT umbrella can be quite large , covering so many fields that deal with the use of electronic computers and computers software to convert, store , protect , process , transmit , and retrieve information securely.

What is Management Information System (MIS) ?

MIS is a general name for the business functions and academic discipline covering the application of people , technologies and procedures, called information systems to solve business problems.For example, it provide quantitative information as for Accounting Department and such other benefits for other departments.

What is a data ?

data is a raw facts that describe the characteristics of an event.

information ?

information is a data converted into a meaningful and useful context.

what is business intelligence then ?

it refers to applications and technologies that are used to gather , provide access to, and analyzed data and information to support decision making efforts.

What is the IT resources ?

the three key resources- people, information , and information technology. for your information, it is orderly arranged,  and it is inextricably linked, if one fails, all fails.

IT cultures ? Seriously ? IT do have cultures ? Yes.

IT do have cultures, it has four cultures, that is

information functional culture ; employees use information exercising influence or power over others.

information sharing culture; employees across department trust each other to use information to improve performance

 information inquiring culture; employees across departments search for information to better understand the future and align themselves with current trends and new direction.

information discovery culture; which employees across departments are open to new insights about crises and radical changes and seek ways to create competitive advantages.
